How to Locate Viruses Using the Attrib Command

Nowadays, Antiviruses can be very expensive. If you don't have any money to spare, and can't spend your money on a antivirus to delete a virus. You can locate a virus manually using the Windows command prompt

Go hit start

    1. 2 Than click on Run
    1. 3 In the searchbox type in cmd.exe

    When you click on OK a windows should come up Simalar to this:

    First, type in the Infected Drive such as for example: dir/p C:

    DON'T HIT ENTER YET! Type in the end switch such as s - h *. * /s /d and press ENTER

    The command prompt will load all the files in your drive. If you see anything suspicous for example: Autorun.inf or a .exe file. These files you need to watch out for.

    If you see the .exe and the autorun.inf than you have just found a tainted file.

    Write the prgram name and where the program is located.

    Rename the Autorun.inf so you can open it without activating the virus. Rename it as a rar. extension.

    Go to start, and double click the My computer icon.

    Select the tainted drive, that has the infected file. Find the program directory that contains autorun.inf.

    Right-click on the file you renamed "virusfile" and choose "Delete."
  11. 14
    Right-click on the ".exe" file and choose "Delete." You have now removed the virus from your computer's hard drive.
